Terry Hetrick Bio

In the summer of 1970 Terry Hetrick made his first visit to a skeet club in the hills of Pennsylvania. That visit launched not only a lifetime passion for skeet shooting but also eventually a career in the clay target business. Thirty five years later, Terry is still enjoying the passion and making his living by teaching others the finer points of skeet shooting.

Hetrick quickly stepped into the winners circle claiming numerous junior titles around Pennsylvania including the 1973 State Championship. He was named to the All American Team and All State Team in 1974. Leaving his boyhood days behind him, Terry won titles in the open division in such notable shoots as the Mid Atlantic, U S Open, and the Zone 2 Championships. The highlight of his Pennsylvania tour was winning the State High Over All Championship in 1976 at the age of 19. Hetrick went on to win numerous state titles before moving to Texas in 1991.

It was during this stay in Texas that Terry’s shooting kicked into high gear. Winning numerous titles in Texas and around the country, he found himself a regular member of the All American Team and was twice High Average .410 Leader in Texas. Terry won Numerous State, Regional, and World titles while working for Briley Manufacturing. In 1996 he was inducted into the Pennsylvania Skeet Shooting Hall of Fame.

In 2000, Terry moved to Nashville, TN to pursue his lifelong dream of teaching full time. Since that time, he has won 8 Tennessee State Championships including the HOA twice, and HAA three times. In 2002 Hetrick was inducted into the Huntingdon County Sports Hall of Fame. His shooting school attracts approximately 500 students each year and has included notable All Americans such as Tommy and Teddy Gutierrez, Stephen and Brian Murray, Greg Jackson, Robyn Sutton, and Christian Webb.

Teaching all levels of shooters, Hetrick is the resident pro at the Tennessee Clay Target Complex.
