Clay Target Shooters of the Future
The photograph shows 4 of the young shooters (9-11 years of age) who have been participating in our youth shooting program since October 2002.
These young people and four more who are not in the picture have been shooting trap at least once per month. They are instructed in safety, clay target shooting techniques and, rules and etiquette of trap shooting. A parent or guardian accompanies each participant. Many of the parents are also learning to shoot while monitoring the safety of their own child.
The participants provide their own shotgun, shells and a determination to break as many targets as possible. Rodger Cook watches the weather forecast and sends an e-mail to all participants setting the date of the program. The participants must respond to the e-mail indicating their plans to attend. The program starts at 2 p.m. Sunday afternoon and is completed by 4 p.m.
All of the labor is donated and the participants pay regular club fees for their targets. For additional information contact Rodger at the club (615)742-5297 or send him an e-mail.
