Terry Hetrick with his Tennessee Skeet Championship trophy

Terry Hetrick Wins Tennessee Skeet Championship!

Many competitors know Terry Hetrick as one of the best shooting instructors in the nation. They were just reminded that Terry is also one of the best shooters when he claimed the title of 2003 Tennessee Skeet Champion by posting the high over-all average of 398x400. This is a repeat victory for Terry who won the event in 2001.

The competition was intense, but everyone was glad to see the title go to Terry Hetrick who is very popular among shooters. “I am very happy Terry is the Tennessee State Champion,” said junior shooter, Greg Jackson. “Terry introduced me to skeet. He is my coach and my friend. Way to go, Terry!”

Terry’s history goes back to his childhood in Pennsylvania when his dad and uncle introduced him to the sport of skeet. Terry was quickly hooked and as a teenager would travel to shoots in an old car and sleep in a tent. He would pay for his ammo and entry fees by loading traps and pulling rounds for other shooters. Terry won many junior titles and later in his career, several top shoots. He was named to two All-American teams and was recently inducted into the Pennsylvania Skeet Shooting Hall of Fame.

Now living in Nashville, Terry is a full time shooting instructor. While he does travel conducting shooting clinics around the country, most of Terry’s coaching is provided at the Tennessee Clay Target Complex. “We are very fortunate to have a person of the caliber of Terry Hetrick as an instructor at TCTC,” says Tom LaCroix. “Terry is a world-class instructor and a real asset to the entire sport.”

Congratulations to Terry Hetrick on his outstanding victory. Anyone wishing to take a lesson from Terry can schedule a lesson by calling TCTC at 742-5297 or Terry’s cell at 500-6834.
