Congratulations Greg Jackson!
Junior shooter wins at the Kachina Open.
Greg Jackson, a TCTC junior shooter, just returned from the Kachina Open in Phoenix, Arizona. The Kachina is a major sporting clays competition as well as a qualifier event for the 2006 All-American teams.
When the desert dust settled, Greg Jackson won R/U in the FITASC with a score of 88, losing to NSCA Hall-of-Famer Jon Kruger by only 2 targets.
The FITASC course required very long shots. One competitor stated the targets were as good as he has seen at the World FITASC Championships.

Greg, also, won the Junior Concurrent in both the FITASC and the Preliminary. In the main event, Greg finished second in the Junior Concurrent, while Gebben Miles took first.
Gebben Miles is a most impressive college student from Tucson, Arizona. He has been a member of Team USA for 4 years, winning both gold and silver medals at the World Fitasc Championships. He was very helpful to Greg during the competition. Thank you, Gebben.
The Kachina Open is hosted each year at the sprawling Ben Avery Shooting Complex. It is located in a cactus-filled valley surrounded by mountains in the Sonora desert. Shooters were constantly distracted by flocks of hot air balloons or by sailplanes performing aerobatics overhead.
The weather was a comfortable 85 degrees with brilliant sunshine each day. A wet winter produced an explosion of desert flowers and green foliage.
This is a super shoot. The facilities and people could not be nicer. It is a great opportunity to combine a family vacation with an outstanding sporting clays competition.
Good shooting, Greg!
