Champions Shoot at TCTC
October 29, 2004 should serve as a day to remember at the Tennessee Clay Target Complex. Sporting Clays U.S. Open Champion, Wendell Cherry, was joined by 2004 Olympian and USA Shooting Team member, Collyn Loper and her father, Brian, to shoot some FITASC targets at TCTC.
It is not often that we are witness to the combination of skills present on our FITASC course this day. Collyn, soon to be an undergraduate student, is a prospect for Vanderbilt University as well as a number of other well known universities. We hope that Collyn will chose Vanderbilt for her studies and Tennessee Clay Target Complex for her training and preparation for the 2008 Summer Olympics in China.
Collyn is an icon of defeating adversity. A right-handed shooter, born blind in her right eye, she learned to shoot as a lefty. While most of us would be happy to shoot at a "club level" having achieved this degree of success, Collyn made the best of her natural ability and through hard work pursued the goal becoming a member of the US National Shooting Team. Realizing that goal, she soon became a member of the US Olympic Team and represented our country in the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, where she performed well competing against the best female shotgunners in the world.
