Greg Jackson Crowned 2005 National Junior Champion!
To win a National Championship in the discipline of Sporting Clays requires considerable personal commitment to a specific goal, many hours of practice and exceptional skill. Tennessee’s Greg Jackson recently proved he was up to the challenge at the 2005 NSCA Junior Nationals in San Antonio, Texas.
With the largest field of junior shooters in the history of the NSCA competing, Greg Jackson wielded his K-80 and claimed the title of 2005 Junior Champion.
Besides winning the Junior Championship in the main event, Greg finished M3 in the Preliminary, M1 in Fitasc, and M1 in Compak. The 17 year-old junior shot an average score of 93 for all 4 events and either shot the high score or tied for the second highest score in 3 of the 4 events!
This is the first year that a separate “Junior” National Championship event has been held. In previous years, juniors competed during the NSCA Nationals in September. The decision to hold a separate Junior Nationals in July allows more young shooters to participate, without experiencing conflict with school.
National Championship titles were awarded to the top sub-junior, junior and collegiate shooter.
John Ray, age 16, handily won the sub-junior championship. Another great competitor, Brad Belcher, age 20, claimed the collegiate championship. Brad also won HOA with a score of 187, while Greg finished R/U HOA with a score of 186.
Congratulations to the 2005 NSCA National Junior Champion, Greg Jackson!
