Christa Hetrick wins World Titles!
Sara Jackson puts forth strong performance in the Junior Concurrent
The dates were July 28-31st. The event was the 2005 NSSA Junior World Skeet Championship. The place was Whitetail Ridge Shooting Center in Tupelo, Mississippi. At stake were the 2005 World Skeet Championships.
Perhaps skeet comes a bit naturally for 14 year-old Christa Hetrick. After all, her father, Terry, is a multiple champion, a Hall-of-Fame inductee and full-time shooting instructor at the Tennessee Clay Target Complex. Regardless, Christa took her new Krieghoff K-80 and collected a mantle full of trophies and several World Championship titles, to boot.
Christa competed in the “Sub-Junior” Concurrent where she was the Ladies H.O.A World Champion, Ladies Champ-of Champs World Champion, Ladies Doubles World Champion, Ladies 12 gauge World champion, Ladies 28 gauge World Champion, Ladies 410 gauge World Champion and Ladies 20 gauge R/U.
Christa handled the pressure of competition with ease, but her father was a different story.
“I have competed in many top shoots, but I have never been so nervous, as when I watched my own daughter compete in a world championship,” said Terry Hetrick. “I wore out the grass pacing back and forth. I am very, very proud of Christa.”
Also, competing was TCTC’s Sara Jackson. Sara was shooting her first Junior World competition. A student of Terry Hetrick, Sara shot very well in the “Junior” Concurrent and promises to be a top contender in future events. Needless to say, her father, Steve, was also wearing out the grass with his nervous pacing.
Congratulations to both Christa and Sara for jobs well done!
