The TSCA Winter Series trekked to east Tennessee for a “two shoot” weekend. That’s right. Two shoots, at two clubs, in one weekend. Saturday’s shoot was held at beautiful Benton Sporting Clays, while Sunday’s showdown took place at scenic Montlake Classic Clays.
Benton Sporting Clays has a reputation for throwing challenging targets and club manager, Brad Ramsey, didn’t disappoint on Saturday. Simply stated, this course was tough. However, it seems that there are always a few shooters who can rise to the challenge. Mike Redmond did just that and delivered a most impressive score of 90. Tim Jewell was next in line with 85. Way to go!
Benton is a great club. Paved cart trails and parking coupled with a super 5-stand, great terrain and excellent traps sets this club apart. A trip to Benton Sporting Clays is always a pleasure.
Montlake Classic Clays hosted the Winter Series on Sunday. This mountain top club has it all. From skeet, trap to sporting clays, the shooter gets to see excellent targets and beautiful scenery. Craig and Dawn Sheaffer own it, and they work hard to provide shooters a fun day.
The winner at Montlake was Doc Plaxco with an excellent score of 91. R/U was Mike Redmond with a score of 90. Doc is one of the best competitors around, while Mike has demonstrated consistency throughout the series. Congratulations to each.
The next Winter Series event will be at Big Springs on March 26th. The series is great fun so mark your calendar and make plans to attend. |
