April Spring “Time” to Shoot - ATA Registered Trap Shoot

Honoring Dave and Debi Cates

The April ATA shoot was conducted on April 23rd and 24th. Thirty clocks, watches and collector knives were awarded to competitors during the two day shoot.

This shoot was to honor the Cates for all that they do for the shooting sports. If you have been shooting in the Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky or Tennessee areas you have probably met both Dave and Debi. They shoot frequently and can be counted upon to do what ever is needed, whenever there is a need. They are key players in the SCTP efforts in Indiana. We could fill this report with a list of their contributions to shooting and to the many charities which use shooting venues to raise much needed funds. However, we will just say a heartfelt “THANK YOU!” For all that you do for the shooting sports, to both Dave and Debi.

After many warm Spring days something called “Dogwood- or Locust Winter” came to Nashville. We were greeted with frost, gusting winter winds and rain showers (some shooters claimed they saw snow). Most people came prepared and were ready to shoot in spite of the weather conditions. We were especially impressed by the large turnout of SCTP shooters. These young people and their coaches deserve our respect.

As usual, the food was excellent during the registered shoot. Larry and the Staff did a great job of running the event. Dave and Debi Cates provided grilled brats with all the fixings after the shoot was over on Saturday evening. They received life memberships in the Tennessee Clay Target Complex and a cake to thank them for their efforts.

Please plan to join us for the Music City Shoot - May 21st and 22nd. The 2005 Music City Shoot continues a tradition in Nashville. This shoot will feature special trophies plus each participant will receive a commemorative pin for their collection. Watch for the program in the mail.

Congratulations to the event champions. Saturday’s champions were: SINGLES, Dave Cates. HANDICAPS, Bobby Cagle II. and DOUBLES, Bobby Cagle II. Sunday’s Champions were: SINGLES, Danny Tyce. HANDICAPS, Jonathan McGuffey. DOUBLES, Bob Pierce. High Over All, Bobby Cagle II.
